WLA aims to have D1013 ready for big anniversary

The Western Locomotive Association has announced that it’s aiming to have D1013 “Western Ranger” operational for 26 February 2027, the 50th anniversary of the Western Tribute railtour, where it double headed wth D1023 “Western Fusilier”. The Western is undergoing overhaul at the Severn Valley Railway’s Kidderminster diesel depot.

The sell out tour took the two Westerns from Paddington to Plymouth, via Swansea and marked the end of class 52s in British Rail service.
