National Railway Museum confirms that ‘Flying Scotsman’ will remain on main line in 2024.

Amidst rumours that the iconic steam locomotive is to be removed from the main line, following the ending of its maintenance contract this month, the NRM has confirmed that the locomotive – which has recently undergone a major overhaul – has a main line future.

Speaking to Chime Whistle Publishing, the NRM said: “The 2022 overhaul was extensive and our intention is to keep ‘Flying Scotsman’ main line operational.” A further announcement regarding plans for the A3, is expected in the new year.
